April 2019
HEParks Board of Commissioners approved closing Highland Park due to safety concerns with the playground equipment.
April 25, 2018
Postcards were sent to the 69 surrounding homes and a Notice of Public Meeting sign placed at Highland Park informing residents of the scheduled public meeting regarding the development of Highland Park.
May 9, 2019
A public meeting, attended by nine residents, was held at Highland Park by the Director of Parks, Planning and Maintenance. A conceptual plan for the park was presented. Residents in attendance raised concerns and suggestions for the layout and future of the park.
Action: Following the meeting, the final plans for Highland Park were developed that include a new Tot Playground, a 5-12 play structure, removal of failing retaining walls and concrete, earthwork and drainage.

July 16, 2019
Total project cost submitted to the Building and Grounds Board Sub-Committee. Upon approval, the proposal will be submitted for review by the full Board of Commissioners the following Tuesday.
August 2019
Construction begins on Highland Park.

Anticipated completion date of Highland Park.
