In an era where financial scams and identity theft are becoming increasingly sophisticated, Bank of America is taking decisive action by leading a nationwide initiative designed to educate, protect, and empower communities.
That mission came to life locally through a dynamic collaboration with the Hoffman Estates Park District (HEParks), bringing residents together for an engaging and highly impactful fraud prevention event on Thursday, April 23 at the Hap & Jan Wittcamp Senior Center. The response was exceptional, with a strong turnout and energized participation from community members eager to learn how to safeguard themselves and their families.
Attendees didn’t just listen, they interacted. From real-world scam scenarios to practical, easy-to-apply protection strategies, the session sparked thoughtful dialogue and meaningful connections. The atmosphere was one of awareness, empowerment, and shared responsibility.
Driving this impactful experience were Bank of America team members Darius Jankauskas, Rachel Veleker, Ingrid Aguilera, and Raj Chhatwani, whose expertise and commitment ensured every attendee walked away better informed and more confident. Raj has been member of the HEParks Board of Commissioners since 2019 and currently serves as Vice President. The event was made possible through the leadership of Hoffman Estates Park District, Executive Director Craig Talsma, along with Connor Schwarz, Adult and Senior Program Manager, whose seamless organization and coordination elevated the experience for everyone.
“Our priority at HEParks is to provide more than just recreation. We strive to offer resources that enhance the overall well-being and security of our residents,” said Executive Director Craig Talsma. “Partnering with Bank of America for this event allowed us to bring vital, real-world knowledge directly to our seniors, ensuring they have the tools and confidence to protect themselves in an increasingly digital world.”
This collaboration reflects more than just a single event, it represents a growing movement toward stronger, safer communities. With partnerships like these, Bank of America continues to set the standard for proactive, community-driven financial education.
