Canon Crossing Community Input
We need your feedback!
We are excited to unveil early conceptual plans for major upgrades at Cannon Crossings Park (1675 Nicholson Dr.). To help bring this vision to life, we are pursuing an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant. We need your input! Public feedback is a critical component of our grant application, and your participation directly impacts our chance of success.
The proposed master plan focuses on elevating athletic play, enhancing community spaces, and improving park accessibility. Here’s what we are proposing:
• New synthetic turf infields for baseball/softball and a brand-new synthetic turf multi-use field to accommodate an 11v11 soccer field, football, lacrosse, and smaller soccer layout.
• Enhancements to our existing natural grass soccer, football, and lacrosse fields.
Upgraded basketball courts, resurfaced tennis courts, and the installation of two new pickleball courts (no lights).
• Sports field fencing upgrades, energy-efficient LED light conversions, and additional field lighting on the two west baseball/softball fields.
• Brand-new, fully accessible playground with modern equipment designed for all abilities.
• 0.65-mile loop walking and biking trail circling the park perimeter.
• Enlarged water detention areas planted with Illinois native flora and butterfly habitats, plus general landscaping improvements to provide natural shade and sound barriers.
