Through this program, the foundation will fully fund and provide free swim lessons to local children who might otherwise face financial barriers to participation.

Learning to swim is more than just a recreational activity, it is a vital life skill that builds confidence, promotes health, and keeps children safe. Recognizing that formal swim lessons can significantly reduce the risk of childhood drowning, the Friends of HEParks foundation is stepping up to ensure that local youth have access to high-quality aquatic education at zero cost to their families.

“Every child in our community deserves the opportunity to learn how to swim and feel safe around the water,” said Craig Talsma, Executive Director. “Thanks to the incredible support of our foundation donors, Swim for All allows us to remove the financial barriers to this essential training and deliver a true, life-saving gift to local families.”

The Swim for All initiative is made possible entirely through charitable donations and foundation fundraising events, including the upcoming Dolphin Derby, which will be held on July 11 at 2:00 pm at the Seascape Family Aquatic Center. The Dolphin Derby is a fun, fast-paced event where community members can sponsor toy dolphins to race down the course.

Proceeds from the event directly support the Friends of HEParks foundation, helping fund vital recreational opportunities like the Swim for All program. Residents can get involved by sponsoring a single dolphin for $5 or a “Flipper Fleet” of five dolphins for $20.

To make a one-time donation to the Friends of HEParks Foundation, please visit the donations page here: Donate. To register your child for the Swim for All program, please reach out to Cindy Flynn, Superintendent of Special Projects, at cflynn@heparks.org.

The Friends of HEParks Foundation is proud to announce the launch of Swim for All, a new community-funded initiative designed to ensure every child has access to essential, life-saving water […]

"_ecp_custom_2":"
[1

post-104951","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
