Hoffman Estates, IL<\/strong>, April 29, 2020. Hoffman Estates Park District (HEParks) will\nnot open Seascape Family Aquatic Center this summer due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The extended Stay-at-Home order, combined with unknowns\nassociated with group size and physical distancing guidelines combined with the\npotential for spreading of the virus through water has prompted the HEParks\nBoard of Commissioner\u2019s decision, on April 28, 2020, to not open the aquatic\ncenter this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis was a hard but correct decision to make,\u201d said HEParks\nExecutive Director Craig Talsma. \u201cThe community trusts the district to provide\nsafe and fun recreational experiences. With the extended Stay-at-Home order,\nSeascape is currently not allowed to open. Also, in addition to health\nconcerns, we would also be unable to hire and effectively train lifeguards and\nstaff even if the facility were to be allowed to open sometime this summer.\nSafety, combined with physical distancing and group size limitations, led us to\nmake this difficult, yet responsible choice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Seascape is typically open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.\nIt offers swimming lessons, open swim, and special events to the community as\nwell as rental options. During the summer months, the aquatic center frequently\nreaches its operating capacity of 1300 patrons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Patrons who purchased their Seascape season passes in advance\nwill receive full refunds from the District. Refund processes will begin the\nfirst week of May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition to the Seascape operations, the Board also voted to\nclose the four splash parks within the Hoffman Estates community, as well, as\nthe indoor pools at The Club at Prairie Stone. \n\n\nHEParks is offering a variety of virtual programs for the community\nduring the Stay-at-Home Order.
