Preventative measures addressing COVID-19 concerns

It is important to note that there is currently NOT an outbreak of the Coronavirus in our area.

The health and safety of our park district participants and staff is a top priority at Hoffman Estates Park District. Within our facilities, disinfection includes an upgraded schedule of disinfecting doorknobs, handrails and grab rails as well as placement of additional antiseptic wipes and/or hand sanitizers.

COVID-19 is a respiratory illness. As with most communicable illnesses, the best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus. COVID-19 is believed to be spread mostly from person to person via coughs and sneezes. Stopping transmission is the best way to stay healthy:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow or a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect regularly touched objects and surfaces.
  • See a doctor if you have a fever, cough, fatigue or body aches.

The Park District is monitoring information daily from the CDC and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and staff have monitored procedures accordingly.

The Park District is asking you to do your part to contain the spread of the coronavirus – stay home or keep your child home from Park District programs and facilities if there have been signs of the flu or if you are not feeling well.  If a member of your family contracts the COVID-19, please contact Catalina Rodelo at 847-885-7500 ext. 636 and let us know the person’s name, date the COVID-19 was diagnosed, and programs the person is registered for with the Park District.
