The Hoffman Estates Park District is proud to announce the opening of a new, fully inclusive playground at Vogelei Park and Barn, located at 650 West Higgins Road. This opening follows two years of careful planning, demolition, and construction to create a one-of-a-kind recreational space designed for the entire community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
El nuevo parque infantil cubre m\u00e1s de 7,500 pies cuadrados y cuenta con estructuras totalmente inclusivas espec\u00edficamente dedicadas a ni\u00f1os de 2 a 5 a\u00f1os y de 5 a 12 a\u00f1os. El proyecto fue posible gracias a una subvenci\u00f3n de $600,000 para Adquisici\u00f3n y Desarrollo de Espacios Abiertos (OSLAD) del Departamento de Recursos Naturales de Illinois. Esta subvenci\u00f3n de contrapartida representa la subvenci\u00f3n individual m\u00e1s grande jam\u00e1s otorgada en la historia del Distrito de Parques de Hoffman Estates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
El parque ofrece una amplia gama de atracciones, que incluyen toboganes coloridos, varios columpios y una zona de juegos acu\u00e1ticos. \u201cIt is truly special to offer a space that provides high-quality recreational opportunities for every member of our community, regardless of age or ability. We are sincerely grateful to our hard-working staff and the State of Illinois for the OSLAD grant program, both of which were instrumental in making this vision a reality,\u201d said Executive Director Craig Talsma. \u201cI am incredibly proud of our team for the extensive research and dedication they poured into planning such a unique destination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development process began in 2023 with community input meetings and included consultation with the Northwest Special Recreation Association. The historic Vogelei House on the property continues to house the association\u2019s PURSUIT Community Day Program, which serves the needs of individuals with disabilities ages 21 and older.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the playground is now open for daily use, HEParks will host an official celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 16 at 10:00 am. The event will be held in conjunction with the Kids to Parks event, with festivities continuing until 1:00 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
