The Hoffman Estates Park District proudly offers first-class parks, facilities, programs, and services to meet the needs of a diverse and dynamic population. The award-winning district serves a community of over 50,000 with two community centers, a premier 18-hole golf course, state-of-the-art fitness center, twin ice arena, family aquatic center, and 72 parks.

Comprehensive Master Plan

The district has finalized its five year Comprehensive Master Plan. This planning process was a detailed evaluation of all aspects of the district’s parks, programs, facilities and services. It involved redefining the mission, values and long-term goals, a district-wide analysis of our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, benchmarking against comparable park districts, researching trends, assessing our operations and conducting community-wide focus groups and an attitude and interest survey.

Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA)

Providing recreational services to individuals with special needs, the Hoffman Estates Park District is a member of a cooperative agreement among 17 park districts which form the NWSRA. NWSRA exists to provide outstanding opportunities through recreation for people with disabilities. The agency's team of full time Therapeutic Recreation Professionals and trained part time staff offer safe, fun and quality year round opportunities to individuals with disabilities of all ages and ability levels. The Hoffman Estates Park District complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibits discrimination in the provision of programs, services, or activities to individuals with disabilities. Anti Bullying Policy and Sportsmanship Pledge

The Hoffman Estates Park District’s Board of Commissioners have adopted a comprehensive Anti-Bullying Policy to address bullying or harassment, and all forms of aggressive and violent behaviors. 

 
“We feel this is an important step to ensure the health and well-being of our community and our participants,” said Dean Bostrom, executive director for the HEPD. “We won’t tolerate bullying or harassment of any kind that might inhibit an individual’s ability to learn and participate.” 
 
“Bullying” or “harassment” is defined as any gesture or written, verbal, graphic, or physical act (including cyber bullying via the internet, cell phone, personal digital assistant) that is dehumanizing, intimidating, hostile, humiliating, threatening, or otherwise likely to evoke fear of physical harm or emotional distress. This also includes forms of retaliation against individuals who report or cooperate in an investigation under this policy.
 
All employees and volunteers will be required to complete a training course each year and will be expected to refuse to tolerate bullying and harassment and to demonstrate behavior that is respectful and civil. 
 
The Recreation Department has taken this issue one step further by adopting a Sportsmanship Pledge for all coaches and players, which makes a strong statement about the level of respect that is expected among participants in sports programs.  Read more.
