Volunteers play an important role in every public agency, and a park district is no exception. In fact, because the Hoffman Estates Park District works to accommodate the entire community -- from infants to seniors, volunteers are especially needed and valued.
The Hoffman Estates Park District offers many opportunities for those interested in volunteering their time and talent. From community representatives to coaches, our residents enjoy the added benefits of a committed and dedicated volunteer staff.
Community Representatives

Through Standing Committees, your community representatives offer resident feedback and insight to elected board members at the committee level. Committees receive and review monthly reports from Park District staff, then forward or provide recommendations on park district affairs to the full, elected board of commissioners. There are three park district committees that require volunteer community representation:
Coaches
A coach can have a monumental impact on a child just learning to play organized sports. At the park district there are a variety of different sports in need of volunteer coaches. The sports include: basketball, soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, hockey and swimming. Anyone interested in coaching, receives specialized training.
Park Volunteers
Volunteers interested in helping beautify one of the district's more than 63 parks can help by planting and maintaining flower beds, laying sod, cleaning up debris or by offering a host of other park-related assistance throughout the year.
Summer Volunteers
The park district uses summer volunteers to work with children in any of its 30 or more summer camps. From sports camps to art camps, the opportunities are endless for interested volunteers.
Program Assistants
Volunteers can also help run program activities. From art to cooking, program assistants can provide the necessary help to make a good program great.
